SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-12, you will plan on a quarterly or longer basis, the overall use of subordinate personnel and resources under their control. Determine resource requirements, materials, the number of subordinates and the types of skill necessary to accomplish long-range work schedules. Allocate resources and distributes work to organizational segments or groups under their control. Assign and explain work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines, and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed. Assure that subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies to achieve management objectives. Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, makes formal appraisals of their performance, and determines their training needs. Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned. APPOINTMENT STATUS:

Experience:
Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, applicant must indicate at least 36 months of experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:

Experience:
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
