Summary:
Ability to understand the existing labor market, attract qualified candidates to fill union positions and retain current employees.
Essential Job Duties/
Responsibilities:
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Recruit, review applications, interview, and hire employees
Improve recruitment and retention within the organization
Review and process applications
Establish local recruiting networks
Develop and standardize training for terminals, drivers and touch labor
Train managers to assist in qualifying applicants
Obtain MVR's and PSP's and perform employment verifications as required by company guidelines and DOT
Implement, educate, and follow through on the ABF Quality Process, policies, and procedures
Represent the organziation at job fairs, military bases, commercial driving schools, high schools, colleges, universities, etc. related to recruiting
Stay well-informed on competition and industry news/strategies as it relates to recruitment
Monitor utilization of fast track hiring process
Develop and standardize certified terminal driver mentors by location
Build, develop, and grow all business relationships vital to the success of union labor recruitment
Assist terminals with corrective action to conform to standards
Assist terminals with advertising needs
Work in a team setting to accomplish recruitment goals
Assist with any necessary Human Resources needs
Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment
Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferred
Terminal Operations experience, preferred
Understanding of terminal operations, operational procedures and hiring needs
Knowledge of inbound, outbound and transfer operations, dispatching, cost control initiatives, quality process, and KPI's
Must be detail oriented and enjoy a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
Must have excellent verbal and written communications and organziational skills
Must display sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail
Proven leadership, interpersonal skills, and team-work effectiveness
Ability to diffuse tension, motivate others, and be very perceptive
Critical thinking, negotiating, organizational, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
Understanding of ABFs organization, behavior, business practices, and inter-connectivity
Must have the ability to understand a vision, clearly communicate it to others and develop the right path to achieve it
Ability to travel, as neededEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
