General Description of Duties ABF Freight System, Inc., one of North America's largest and most experienced motor carriers, is looking for a LINEHAUL SUPERVISOR. ABF concentrates on national and regional transportation of general commodities freight, involving primarily LTL shipments. Established in 1923, ABF is the best-in-class for safety, security, technology and freight-handling. The Linehaul Supervisor will play a very important role in the continued success of our company. The primary role of the Linehaul Supervisor is to plan and dispatch drivers, manage hours of service for the drivers, and manage equipment placement. General duties and responsibilities include:
Planning and directing the movement of equipment and freight to meet cost and service goals
Coordinating equipment and driver utilization to meet daily manpower and transportation needs
Performing continuous analysis of scheduling and performance to ensure effective utilization of resources
Monitoring and maintaining equipment pools
Handling equipment breakdowns and repairs
Enforcing safety rules as well as company policies and procedures
Supervising, planning and assigning workload Other Requirements and Preferred
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree with excellent organization, planning, analytical, and leadership skills is preferred
Effective computer, written and verbal communication skills
Problem solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail
Organized, self-directed and ability to operate independently
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function and multi-task in a fast paced environment
Willingness to enhance a team atmosphere and demonstrate a positive attitude
Previous experience in motor carrier linehaul supervision is preferred
Work Hours: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
